Because of the chronic characteristics of addiction, most of those diagnosed will end up relapsing at some point during their recovery. A number of studies have indicated that an estimated 40 to 60 % of addicts will relapse. It’s important to understand that “relapse” doesn’t mean that the treatment prescribed was unsuccessful. Instead, it serves as a warning sign that treatments need to be modified in order to help the patient throughout the recovery process.

Relapse is oftentimes a part of recovery.
The decision to seek treatment for addiction isn’t an easy one, and it requires a great deal of trust between the counselor and patient. The same is true for recovery work. Our counselors are passionate about creating a strong bond with our patients, often referred to as ” therapeutic alliance or relationship”. Once the decision to get treatment for addiction is made, it’s important that clients are equipped with the right tools to avoid relapsing in the future. Preventing relapse requires much more than the self-control to say “no” when temptations arise, which is why it’s so important to start recovery work early on. We design personalized, comprehensive relapse prevention plans, a crucial step in the addict’s road to recovery
